History
The Institute for the Development of Education (IDE) was founded in 1999 as a non-profit, non-governmental organisation with the goal of providing information and advice on higher education opportunities in Croatia and abroad. From 1999 until 2005, the organisation's name was Student Information Centre Zagreb (SIC).
After the organisation's vision, mission and target groups expanded significantly, by 2003 the name “Student Information Centre (SIC)” had become too narrow to fit the organisation's new goals and activities, which now comprised the development of the higher education system, higher education institutions and higher education policies. It was decided in 2005 that the organisation would adopt a new name, "Institute for the Development of Education."
