9th Higher Education and Scholarships Fair

67 exhibitors and prominent guest speakers in Zagreb and Rijeka


The Institute for the Development of Education is organising the 9th Higher Education and Scholarships Fair. The Fair will be held on Tuesday 15 October 2013 from 10 am to 6 pm at the National and University Library in Zagreb and on Thursday 17 October 2013 from 10 am to 5 pm at the University of Rijeka. This year's partner country is Canada and the Fair will feature a total of 67 exhibitors from Europe, North America and Asia, who will present study opportunities in Croatia and abroad, as well as scholarship opportunities. The Fair will also feature lectures by international experts, roundtables and panel discussions, which will aim to open a debate on current policy issues in Croatia related to higher education and the labour market, lifelong learning and academic mobility. At the 9th Higher Education and Scholarships Fair, international education opportunities will be presented by exhibitors from Canada, Austria, Estonia, France, Italy, Japan, Hungary, Germany, the U.S.A., Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Financial aid opportunities for study in Croatia will be presented by 20 Croatian institutions, including higher education institutions, ministries, local and regional governments, companies and foundations. This year, as many as 10,000 visitors are expected in Zagreb and Rijeka, where they will be able to learn about degree programmes, scholarship programmes, standardised tests to study abroad and foreign language courses.

The Fair will also feature prominent international experts Dr. Michael Cottrell and Dr. Igor Štagljar, who will provide lectures about the importance of internationalisation and its impact on the quality of higher education. A round table discussion entitled "The Significance of Croatian Accession to the EU for Higher Education" will discuss the development of the Croatian Qualifications Framework and the recognition and quality of Croatian qualifications, in order to increase the employability and mobility. Finally, a panel discussion entitled "The Importance of International Education and Development of Skills for the Labour Market" will be held, featuring leading representatives of the Croatian business community (Ivica Mudrinić, T- Croatian Telecom; Trpimir Renić, Cemex Croatia; Josip Basic, Canadian English Business Network) who will talk about their own experience of studying in Canada and its impact on the success in business career.
