Assistance in searching for scholarships
The Institute for the Development of Education (IDE) provides a number of helpful resources and services when looking for scholarships or other forms of financial aid for studying in Croatia and abroad. During the process of information and advising, IDE also refers visitors to relevant institutions in higher education that provide scholarships for Croatian citizens.
Resources
The main resources that can help you in finding scholarships or financial aid for higher education programmes include:
- Scholarhips portal www.stipendije.info: The first Croatian Internet portal on scholarships available to Croatian citizens for studying in Croatia and abroad. The portal is the best place to start your scholarship search.
- Virtual Education Information Centre www.iro.hr: As IDE's most comprehensive resource, the “Higher Education Information and Advising” section provides a range of useful links related to financial aid for studying in Croatia, Europe, and the United States.
- Handbook “Right to Education: Higher Education in Croatia and Europe”: A free electronic handbook providing an overview of institutions in Croatia that are involved in higher education in Croatia and other European countries, as well as a list of Internet resources that provide relevant information on higher education in Croatia and Europe. Descriptions indicate if a certain institution provides scholarships or other forms of financial aid.
- Library and study room: IDE's library comprises a number of directories, handbooks, catalogues and multimedia related to financial aid or scholarship opportunities in Croatia and abroad. The materials are available for loan or browsing at IDE.
Services
IDE offers the following services in finding financial aid for higher education programmes:
- Individual and group advising: IDE's educational adviser is available for individual advising on scholarships opportunities for higher education programmes in Croatia, Europe and the United States by telephone, e-mail and in person (during office hours).
- Course "How to Write a Successful Academic and Job Application": The course teaches how to successfully present yourself to the academic community by compiling quality applications for study programmes, writing a reference letter, letter of motivation and a statement of purpose. The course also provides insight in business correspondence, as well as ways to present yourself to a potential employer in a positive way through interview skills, writing a CV and writing a cover letter.
Events
IDE organises events related to finding scholarships and financial aid for higher education programmes. These include:
- Scholarships Fair: The Scholarships Fair is an annual event organised by IDE where visitors can learn everything about scholarships and higher education opportunities in Croatia and abroad.
- Presentations on scholarships for studying in Croatia and abroad: Once a year, IDE organises presentations at different faculties in Croatian university cities (Dubrovnik, Osijek, Rijeka, Split, Zadar, Zagreb) and takes part in various educational events throughout Croatia.
- Educational events: IDE regularly organises or participates in various education events such as open days, fairs, seminars, etc.
