Scholarship programmes

The Institute for the Development of Education (IDE) administrates seven scholarship programmes for Croatian citizens for studying abroad. Please find below a short description of each programme, as well as the web links to their respective competition announcements and application documents.

Open Society Institute scholarships

The “Network Scholarships Programme” of the Open Society Institute awards scholarships for all levels of study, mainly within the fields of social sciences and the humanities.

Undergraduate studies

  • Undergraduate Exchange Program: A one-year non-degree programme for study at the undergraduate level in the United States. Eligible candidates are second-year students studying at higher education institutions in Croatia.

Graduate studies

Postgraduate & post-doctoral studies

  • Global Supplementary Grant Program: Partial financial aid for candidates enrolled in PhD programmes at universities in the EU, North America, Australia, Asia and the Near/Middle East.
  • OSI/Staffordshire University MPhil/PhD in Economics: A four-year PhD degree programme for junior researchers employed at Croatian faculties and institutes. Selected candidates spend four months a year at Staffordshire University and the rest at their home institution.
  • Oxford Colleges Hospitality Scheme: a one-month post-doctroal programme at the University of Oxford for persons over 26 years of age who are employed as faculty lecturers or scientists at institutes.

U.S. Government scholarships

Professional development

  • Junior Faculty Development Program: A five-month professional development programme at a U.S. university. Eligible candidates include lecturers in the social sciences or the humanities at higher education institutions.
