Project place description:

Tkibuli is situated on Tkibuli region, Georgia (about 3,5 hours from capital Tbilisi). The population is about 14 000 inhabitants. The closest city is Kutaisi which is at the same time the second biggest city in Georgia – It takes about 1,5 hour by marshrutka (local bus) to get there (marshrutkas run all day).

Tkibuli region is one of the least developed in Georgia. The economic activity in the region mostly stopped after the revolution in 1991 and the quality of life decreased significantly. Today´s major problem of the region is high unemployment (about 50%) and migration of people either to different regions or abroad. It is estimated that 1/3 of population left Tkibuli city.
