Boston University Summer Term
Kategorija obavijesti: Studiranje u SAD-u
We offer three high school programs for international students within the ages of 15-18: High School Honors, Summer Challenge, and Summer Preview.
Last year, over 500 students from all over the United States and the world enrolled in these programs, experiencing life on a college campus while getting a head start on their academic futures.
Summer Term High School Programs are especially attractive to international students. These programs provide the opportunity to experience university life in the United States, strengthen English language skills, immerse oneself in the American culture, and enjoy summer in Boston—an exciting and cosmopolitan city. In addition, the High School Honors Program provides transferable college credit. Students considering applying to an American college will have a transcript that demonstrates their ability to manage the challenging coursework of an American university.
Boston University High School Programs:
High School Honors: June 27 – August 6
This is a six-week program in which students take two Boston University undergraduate courses from the Summer 2 schedule, earning up to eight transferable college credits. We consider students entering their senior or final year of high school in fall 2010. Application requirements include an application, personal statement, high school transcript, application fee, two recommendations, and a copy of standardized scores if available. Since the High School Honors Program is a full-time academic summer program, international students must have an F-1 student visa to participate.
Summer Challenge:
Session 1: June 20-July 2,
Session 2: July 11-23,
Session 3: July 25-August 6.
This is a two-week residential program for students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year in fall 2010. Students enroll in two non-credit seminars designed specifically for the program. Application requirements include an application, personal statement, high school transcript, and application fee.
Summer Preview:
Session 1: June 28-July 2,
Session 2: July 26-30
This is a one-week commuter program in which students can delve into one subject and look ahead to the college experience. Participants must be entering their freshman or sophomore year in fall 2010. Application requirements include an application, personal statement, high school transcript, and application fee.
Since Summer Challenge and Summer Preview are short term, non-credit programs,
international students enrolling in these programs need to enter the United States in a visitor status instead of F-1 student status. For citizens of countries requiring a visa to enter the U.S., participants will need to obtain a B-2 "Visitor for Pleasure" visa to come to the U.S. which will allow them to engage in their tourist-related plans as well as to participate in Summer Challenge or Summer Preview. Citizens of countries who enjoy the benefits of the Visa Waiver Program (http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/without/without_1990.html ) will need to enter the U.S. in WT "Waiver Tourist" status which permits the same activity. Applicants to Summer Challenge and Summer Preview must complete an International Student Data Form.
